Dr. Amargant i Riera’s research laboratory focus on understanding the mechanisms that define oocyte quality. The female reproductive system is the first to age in humans resulting in a decrease in the quantity and quality of oocytes. Her lab uses the mouse model to investigate the ovarian pathways that regulate oocyte quality and whether these mechanisms are dysregulated with advanced maternal age. They are interested in two main lines of research:

  • How do the mechanical cues of the ovary regulate folliculogenesis and oocyte quality?
  • How does oocyte-granulosa cell communication regulate folliculogenesis and oocyte quality in normal conditions and aging?
