The CRepHS Travel Award recognizes scientific achievement among CRepHS graduate, predoctoral, and postdoctoral trainees and supports their participation in national and international scientific conferences where they have been selected to present their research. Awards of up to $1,000 are available to help offset eligible travel-related expenses.

Award Terms:

  1. The Travel Award is open to graduate, predoctoral, and postdoctoral trainees whose faculty advisor/mentor is appointed in the Center for Reproductive Health Sciences (CRepHS).
  2. Applicants must have been accepted for an oral presentation at a national or international scientific conference. Poster presentations are not eligible.
  3. The research being presented must have been conducted under the mentorship of a CRepHS faculty member, and applicants must have their faculty advisor/mentor’s approval to present the work.
  4. Applications must be submitted before the conference takes place. Retroactive applications will not be considered.
  5. Applicants must disclose all other sources of travel funding available or requested for the conference.
  6. Awards are competitive and will be based primarily on scientific achievement, including the quality and significance of the research and the distinction associated with selection for an oral presentation. The scientific and professional development opportunity provided by the conference may also be considered.
  7. The maximum award is $1,000 and may be applied toward eligible conference and travel expenses in accordance with WashU travel policies. Reimbursement will be based on actual expenses and required documentation.
  8. Awardees may receive a maximum of one CRepHS Travel Award per fiscal year, based on the date of the conference.

  1. Brief application statement (maximum one page) including:
    • Applicant name and trainee level
    • Faculty mentor/advisor
    • Conference name, location, and dates
    • Title of the oral presentation
    • Other travel funding available or requested
    • A brief statement describing the significance of the research and how presenting at the conference will contribute to the applicant’s scientific and professional development
  2. Abstract of the research to be presented.
  3. Confirmation of acceptance for an oral presentation from the conference organizers.

Deadline and Review:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed by CRepHS leadership. Awards are competitive and subject to the availability of funds. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.
